Hi I am Maria Smith and I teach kindergarten.  I am trying to find interactive activity I can do with these far more than just putting Starfall.com and other interactive games in front of them.  If there are primary teacher out there who can help me with resources, activities it will be greatly appreciated.  It can be in any subject.

How about creating a digital story with your students. You can use Microsoft photostory 3. Have your students illustrate pictures for a class story. Scan them or take a picture of them with a digital camera. Import them into MS Photostory and have each student record narration on their picture. The software will create a really nice digital story that can be published online or displayed for the class.  See my wiki page for some more ideas. http://digitalwriting.wikispaces.com

Thanks...I realized that I did that 2 years ago and I guess have not gotten a chance to do it again.  Like your wiki space...Thanks again.

Children receive the greatest benefits from technology when these elements are present:

  • The lesson or project is directly connected to the curriculum
  • The technology allows for active learning, with students making decisions

I totally agree with you and that is what I am trying to do.  I work with very little technology and outdated equipment and if people give me ideas, I will work around it and tie it closely with what they are learning otherwise, learning will not make sense to them.

What about a Skype Video Conference? I have a number of Kindergarten classes that would be very interested.

Hi Maria, Check out my portaportal at guest.portaportal.com/sunser. There are many websites that offer phonics, early reading etc. That I have put together for our prek-6 school. I add to it frequently so check it out.

Thanks for sharing, bookmark the site.  I see a lot of things I am using it but there are things that I will definitely will have to check out.  The way you organized it is great.

Hi there Maria

I have put together a list of resources, specifically for use in primary grades. I primarily use these for the smartboard, but making sure the whole class is involved.
