Second Life

Soon I will be teaching an adult animations class. I am aware that some instructors use Second Life to go along with teaching their curriculum. I am interested in knowing how I can incorporate that into an adult class, and would SL be helpful in teaching animations? I have been so bogged down with online classes, site visits, teaching, and breathing, that I haven't really had the opportunity to sit down and explore it. I tested out IMVU a while ago, but wasn't really interested. Is SL the same?
