I have a new prep this year -- AP Lit and Comp -- and I'm kicking off the year with Oedipus Rex translated by Robert Fagles (The Penguin Classics edition). I have a good approach set up -- discussion points, thematic analysis, etc. -- but I'd like to put together some final assessment for the text other than a traditional essay. My students will be writing A LOT of them this year and I'd like to start off with something more creative, but still academic and analytic. Does anyone have ideas? Have you done anything that really worked well with high school seniors?
