Hi all,

Just joined the 2.0 group.  Full disclose, I'm married to a great kindergarten teacher and I work for an ed tech company called Calypso Systems.  We're committed to improving teaching and learning with technology in K-12 schools.  It's all we do.  Going forward, I hope to become a contributor to the on-going discussion. As a goodwill offering, I want to make you aware of a special grant opportunity our company offers to schools called the Be Heard | School Grant.

One of the issues we're big on is ensuring that all students can hear and be heard in the classroom.  Seems rudimentary in today's hi-tech world, but it's often over looked.  A growing body of independent research shows the impact on learning achievement for all students when classroom microphones are used.  The dynamics of sound make it nearly impossible to sustain acceptable volume levels by "just talking louder" in the classroom.  The consequences for students of not hearing can be catastrophic, and the worst part is schools are typically not even aware of the problem. This blog post from a school tech coordinator about her own son will help you understand http://bit.ly/9GObEy.

To show our commitment to this issue, our company developed the Be Heard | School Grant, which provides a fully installed classroom microphone system for up to 35 classrooms.  Three grants are awarded each year.  This years applications are due April 30.  I hope you'll check it out and consider applying or, at least, passing it along to one of your colleagues.

Thanks much for your consideration and for all the great works you do.

Hi,
Our school completed your online grant application. When we were finished we had a message that we would receive an email but we didn't. I am worried that possibly our application didn't 'arrive'. Is it possible you could let me know if it did?

jemery@jbartlett.k12.nh.us - our school is Josiah Bartlett School in Bartlett, New Hampshire.

Thank you for any help you might be able to give us,
Jimi
Hey Brad,

Welcome to the Classroom2.0. I am an AV retailer. I'm sure that Steve gave you the rules, and I'll reinforce the message.
The teachers are very sensative to sales promotions.
OK! Lets talk business! There are a few commercial members on board, a couple of Smart Technology people and one guy from Buhl Hamilton, another here and there, but they are not very active.
I've looked at sound reinforcement systems in the past and have not signed on with any companies. I do not install equipment, so there is no real market for my personal business model. I visited a science lab that had a sound system installed. It was very impressive.
Welcome aboard!
