Integrating Technology in Social Studies

I am a grade three teacher in Abbotsford, BC, Canada and am new to this site and posting questions in forums.  I would like to begin integrating more technology in my classroom, specifically in my Social Studies unit on Communities.  The focus of the unit is on looking at the importance of communities, comparing ways needs and wants are met within communities, understanding rights and responsibilities of members, changes in communities over time, and identifying cultural similiaries and differences.   Any and all ideas would be welcome and much appreciated.
