I'm curious if any districts are using Alice Storytelling and if so how? It is the Middle School spin-off of Alice.org and geared just for printing out story-boards or creating 3D animated story, no gaming aspect such as Scratch.

However, it is just for Windows but we're starting to use it on our Mac's w/ Bootcamp.

Here is an example... http://cyber-kap.blogspot.com/2009/02/alice-storytelling.html

Thanks!!

Cool thanks, btw, I love your blog and think it is a excellent resource for MS techs/teachers!!!
I am using Alice (actually Storytelling Alice) right now with my students. I teach Gifted Ed.at the middle school level.

To those of you who are using Alice Storytelling in the classroom, do you have examples of how you've used it that you could link to? I'm a teacher-in-training right now and would like to use your examples as part of a technology assignment; it looks like an interesting tool!
We'll have stuff posted in about a month, we are just starting the project now but are following this kind of format:
Week 1 - go over Storytelling tutorials and let kids "play/learn" the program
Week 2 - the kids will come in w/ their story boards and create their project
Week 3-4 - will convert their stories to a movie and bring over to our Mac's and let them edit/add soundtrack in iMovie and the upload to the web

View my blog for a very brief example of what I'm referring to http://cyber-kap.blogspot.com/2009/02/alice-storytelling.html
We just finished our huge 8th grade project using Alice Storytelling, here is a sneak peek of an example... http://www.greendale.k12.wi.us/kapuler_d/Alice/muzenski.mov

The actual process to get this up on the web to view was quite tricky, I had to use Jing to capture the Alice Project, in Windows (using Mac's running Bootcamp). Then it saved to a SWF file. So, I took that file into the Mac Partition and used Screen Flow to capture it again and convert it to a .mov file, so now it is in Quicktime. The students then put it in iMovie to add a sound track and re-export it as a Quicktime - web movie.

Fun stuff!!!
