Friends - who are they

Hi all,
I'm sure some of you have seen Wes Fryer's post today about being wary of Ning friend requests. We are probably all having that experience and being a little more selective.

At this point, since the "friends feature" seems to have little impact on what we do here day to day, it's more of something to ponder rather than an actual problem.

What do you think?
