questions my students would prefer to ask are all what has to do with personal information; name, age ,likes dislikes, sports , food, family, environment etc
thanks a lot for your kind offer, well, the students that i am teaching are beginners, they have just learned the basics of the language, what about yours?which level?
Our Brainyflix video contest just ended, and I wanted to thank you for helping us get the word out. We got 800 submissions from across the country. And from what I've heard, students had a good time and learned some tough vocab. Some kids even discovered a passion for hamming it up in front of the camera and started video clubs.
That said, MIT was really happy with the results and will let us run another contest, so we're going for it! But this time, we're gonna have kids create Brainypics flashcards - which are images and sentences paired up with a one of our SAT/ACT words. The contest ends May 22nd, and there'll be iTunes and a cash prize like last time. To boot, we'll double the payout if the kids can hit a certain goal. More details at brainyflix.com/main/contest_rules.
We'd love to have your kids involved. If it's not a good fit for them, maybe you have some colleagues you could pass our info to.
Blanca, I have extended a invitation to our Ning STEM network. We are just getting started as you will see. I do not plan to extend invitations to most of our very large STEM community until there is a little more content and sharing going on. We are working on some ideas to promote more lurkers to contributors! The TRC manages STEM professional development in Texas with MSP dollars. Similar dollars also fund the TSTEM project. We are exploring how to broaden our network to reach all STEM educators in Texas.
Hi Blanca. I was wondering if you and your students would be interested in participating in a nationwide SAT Vocab Video Contest @ MIT university. If not, perhaps you have some educator contacts you could direct me to. You can view contest details at BrainyFlix.com Please let me know. Thanks!
Thanks for the feedback, Blanca! Sorry we couldn't talk more, but that's what cyberspace is for, right? I guess my advantage is that I would rather "ask for forgiveness than permission" and Dr. M has been very cool about that. Anyway, onward we go into the future...keep up YOUR good work too!
WHAT are you doing online???? Aren't you EXHAUSTED from the travel? How long did it take you to get home? I'll look for you next time I'm in-world. I'll send you an invite -- I'm Laelia Laval....be on the look-out for it. With this class I probably won't get inworld until the weekend. See ya in the a.m.! Drive safely....
Hey! well...I teach social studies to a rather interesting group of middle students. I teach 6-8, but my actual class is always changing because my kids are on suspension from their home schools, some for less than 10 days, others up to 90. It can be pretty nuts. How about you?
Cool. You beat me to it. I got sidetracked looking at the wiki for teachers on Web 2.0 tools! I'll find it and post my comments. Have some notes from a while back on curriculum ideas. Thanks Peg!
Hi Bianca, Just noticed your comment. Well, have just found a student with an iPhone who is willing to do some experimenting. Still in the planning stage but will keep you informed. Progress is slow as my other technology has been limited.. new computer classroom, new server, NO LCD and NO Screen. Cramping my teaching styles. will be in touch!! Peg ; )
