Hi Kate,
Thanks for the invite. We are using Moodle (with wikis and blogs) for most of our Professional Development. I notice you are interested in student projects. I have two - one underway for 10-14 (or so) year olds and another just starting next week for 15+.
Let me know if interested.

All links to the kids blogs are on the right.

Hi Kate! I'm enjoying your Twitter posts! For online teaching, my school is focused on using their regular faculty to teach the online courses (not a very good idea, IMHO) - but I am going to try to teach a course for a new online school, Robert Welch University, next year - I am really intrigued by their goals. You might want to check it out here (I do Classics, which is why this school is of special interest to me): Robert Welch University (they are quite new).

I'd be interested if I had the necessary skills. What would they be?

Hi, I'm in Australia on summer holidays but when school resumes at the start of February, I would be most interested in participating in your project for year 6 - 8's with my year 6 students. I started blogging last year with year 3's which was helpful for learning the skills. Now I want to really start using the resource.

Hi again! My students have worked the last couple of days to create a list of Blog Reminders and Blogetiquette rules. Let me know if you would like me to forward them on. sarah_thompson@birdville.k12.tx.us

Wow would you believe I teach accounting as well. There are so few people I know on web 2.0 that do that. I teach year 11 and 12 although this year I only have a year 11 class. I have started a wiki called www.vceaccounting.wikispaces.com if you are interested in what we do in Australia and have a delicious site I think called vceaccounting as well with some great video resources on the web. I want to keep adding to that. I also teach IT to years 4-12. I have taught for too many years but I just love it and love web 2.0

Just a quick thought about your resume -

I am a lifelong learner and keep abreast of new developments with technology and learning through online collaborations dedicated to providing the best possible opportunities for our students. I am able to use relevant and engaging forms of technology that include a range of Web 2.0 applications in my classrooms and have the skills to share these with other teachers.

Hi Kolson,

Geez, I do remember my first year, and thinking at the end of it, that if I could just start all over, I'd now know how to do it right. Of course, I learned that every year you start all over again. New kids, new opportunities, but never new stuff to teach with.

In my career (I'm retired now 3 yrs), I spent a few years as the "computer teacher" at a primary (K-2) school and probably learned as much from the kids as they learned from me. The first year with them, we started out on ancient MAC's and no connectivity. Mid-year, they installed a whole new lab - all running Windows (95, 98, whichever was newest at the time), and all with the Office Suite installed. So I asked about children's software, educational software, something for the kids to do with the computers, and was told they hadn't budgetted for that - good luck to me. I learned in that year and the new couple, just how much even Kiindergartners can do with the most basic software on the computer.

BTW, I have started a forum from a discussion in Introductions which will look at the future of schooling and how technology will advance same. The forum is called "Future Schooling". Since you are just starting out, you may find the discussion informative and perhaps challenging as well.
