Hi Rushton, I'm doing some professional development using your videos through KDSI and would like to know if I can have your permission to show parts these videos to my high school students and some of my colleagues. I teach k5-12 grade technology and business classes. I've enjoyed watching the videos and learning how to work with the students so that they can actually accomplish projects that they enjoy.
Thanks for your comments, I'm delighted you enjoyed your time in Limerick! I'm snowed under with new projects right now, may take you up on your proposal in the future. Thanks
Rushton, I wanted to tell you that your seminar on the Flip Video for the PC was the best workshop that I have attended in a long time. You were so professional and methodical in your teaching. I wish that you were closer to Southern CA. I'm a CUE Affiliate Presidient of San Gabriel Valley and also an member for the Christian School in CA. If you are every on Southern CA and doing a presentation or workshop, please email me. I would attend in a heartbeat. You are a fabulous presenter. I would even love to take Japanese from you. I know that I would totally enjoy that also.
Rushton, that's EXCELLENT news!! I'll be there for April 6-7 (and 5 - that's coaches only) and can't wait to connect with you again. I know my teachers will be excited to have you there. Since you're going to be there, I'll be sure and wear my Give a Shirt. If you tell me what you want in a video, I'll see if I can't get one of those for you, too. They're very excited to share with you what's going on.
We still need to chat about the homeschool stuff. You mentioned having some questions? I work for the district at an Independent Study & Homeschool Charter as a teacher. Let's talk.
Hey Rushton,
At the ILC conference I signed up for your email updates which I thoroughly enjoyed. (Loved the water buffalo video) I'm not receiving them anymore. Are you still sending them out? If so, let me give you a new email for your list. Thanks!
Hey Rushton,
Thanks for sending me the video class planning information. I'm just getting to that stage where I am really looking at the information. I appreciate what you've shared with me. Do you have any other files or documents available that I can take a look through. I definitely found some ideas from what you gave me the first time around that I will be using (and had not thought of). Just looking for whatever else you might have.
Interesting idea! This is our first go at this, so we doing our best to learn-on-the-go. Definitely though, that is something we'll mull over in the future
Good question, Rushton. This is a bit of a gray area, but we do believe that since this contest is a charity event sponsored by a non-profit for educational purposes, the use of the copyrighted material falls under Fair Use. If the owners of the copyright do have a problem with it, they'd probably send a cease and desist letter (maybe to the maker of the video, us at BrainyFlix, or - most likely- Youtube or Schooltube). And if we do receive one (hopefully not) we'll deal with it on a case-by-case basis. So in summary, we think because this is public service, we are OK by Fair Use rules, and if an issue does arise, the parties can have a reasonable discussion.
Hi Rushton. I was wondering if you have students or educator friends who would be interested in participating in a nationwide SAT Vocab Video Contest @ MIT university. You can view contest details at BrainyFlix.com Please let me know. Thanks!
I'd love to hear more from you on the video editing class. It really is more about writing, planning, producing, and the technology needed to do just that, so maybe you could send me whatever resources you've got. Best way is probably through email: brianyearling@gmail.com
Thanks, I really appreciate your time and thoughts,
Hey Rushton, I will be with those same folks at the Ohio eTech in Columbus this weekend and will give them your regards! Since I work for Nwoet I will be there as well. Hope to see you there, Cheers Gerry
Hey Mr. Hurley, (Hurley Sensei)
Been a long time for me to talk to you, but found this site by searching your name. Glad to see that you still juggle. I am in Japan now doing what you did at my age. It is a great experience like you said. Would love to talk to some again about the old days and maybe about life in general. I hear the Japanese program at Silver Creek is still going strong and has done well at the Japan bowls. Well take care and drop me a line if you are ever in Japan.

I am starting a brand new video productions course at my high school next year, and I have no local contacts that have experience in the class. Just wondering if you have any suggestions, files, ideas, or advice for me as I am preparing for the curriculum and big picture of the class.
I tried getting in touch with you on your non profit site bu i think i wasn't able to. Hope everything is fine. My company is embarking on a film project so i wanted to discuss a few things with you in connection with how to get funding for a film project in Africa. Please get in touch when you get this message.
I am relatively new here. I am from Ghana and I'm just here to learn, contribute as well as link up with like-minded people who will be willing to share their experiences as well as help in spreading the concept of distance learning and adult education to Africa, which lags behind as far as education is concerned. My company has developed a television program called 'ADULTS IN EDUCATION' which is used in teaching, especially adults, how to read and write as well as general tips on how to take care of oneself. We also treat social issues as well. Television is still the widest means of disseminating information here in Ghana. I am actually a film director and a writer.
