Sorry, like many teachers I have my feet experimentally in too many pots as I try to sort out what will be the most useful...

My kids' school year ends this week, but post me about ideas for next year. I am interested in learning how to help kids explore the tools of technology in meaningful way. They need no help accessing them for fun, but largely superficial activities.

Jack, Sorry it took forever to respond. Yes I know of several classes that would participate next year if the contest is held again. I wish I had checked in earlier!

I have a group of 5 students who are ready to review the site. I am preparing a info sheet for them...would you be able to provide some general information about who is "targeted" or your customer is for the site? I can tell based on the site, but I would like to be able to provide them with a real world description from those who have put it together!

Thanks

Jack, is the website the brainyflix site? or another? If I have time with the class, I would be more than happy to.

Jack,
I must apologize, I haven't been on here for a number of months. Thank you for the invite to the Vocab quiz. If you ever have a request for student volunteers, let me know.

In fact, I will be holding a Classroom 2.0 Conference in Sept. 17 and 18 and would love it if you could come down to present. Let me know if you might be interested. I think what you are doing is really going to have a huge impact on student learning and we need more people to see the relevance in ed. tech, constructivism and online publications. It would be an incredible opportunity for our school districts to meet and hear from you and how your initiative has truly taken off! Please feel free to email me at ccapozzoli@caiu.org if you are interested in joining us for a day. We would love to have you!
Thanks!

Hi Jack,
Just shared your site with a ton of people at Penn State 1-to-1 computing conf.
It was a huge hit! Thanks for your time and dedication to education! My own children will be adding to the site this summer. Wondering if you travel to do presentations?

Jack,

Short answer is that you need a mission that is compelling, that you can sell. Our mission really is focused on engaging teens with technology, finding a way to get them excited and provide a way for them to learn by doing. The resulting platform is interesting to lots of people. Schools care since they can't find a way to provide it for their kids - moving too quickly and too expensive. After school programs care as a way to provide something productive to their kids. Companies care in order to drive more teens into STEM. Etc. So once you have this kind of interest and reach, it just comes down to hard work asking for support and building a model where they feel like they are getting value for their money.

I'll be glad to pass the info along to our language arts department and will also tell my upper level German students. Some of those kids would enjoy creating flashcards with SAT vocab.
