We are in a Pepsi contest right now to win 3 itouch labs for our school and we need a lot of support. We are currently ranked 9th and need to be in the top ten to win, but we need to stay there until June 1st. Will you please have your faculty, students, family and friends vote for us each day until June 1st. Some people don't understand the importance of this project, but I thought that you would! Please spread the word and help us!…

As a college student going into the feild of education, I am very impressed with the idea of using the ipod touch in a classroom setting. I guess I have never really thought about ipod touches as something that could have any use in the classroom. I think its great that students can take these with them and access the internet from anywhere in the building. I agree that the price may be a little bit steep right now, but it might be less in the future. I am not really aware of all the uses that…

I agree that the price may be a little bit steep right now, but it might be less in the future. I am not really aware of all the uses that the ipod touch has. I really like how easily a student take this technology with them and use it almost anywhere. I am really interested to see if this trend will grow or not. I think it has great potential. I'm principal at Culbreth in Chapel Hill and would be happy to talk with anyone interested in using the iPod Touches. We have about 400 units in use and find them really incredible tools for teaching and learning. We made a careful decision to use this device precisely for its mobility and opportunities for differentiation and customization. As one of my science teachers explained, this is the ultimate lab tool. And as one of my 8th graders puts it, the iPod Touch is 100 tools in one.

Agreed -- the Learning In Hand blog was a really helpful starting place. I know that I'll have to convince my technology department of a couple of things that this site has already anticipated:<br />
a) this isn't a case of 'technology for technolgy's sake'<br />
b) the benefits of an iPod Touch versus a traditional laptop.<br />
<br />
I'm also curious if that part of iTunes' DRM-free initiative will involve audiobooks. Hmm...

Many thanks for a wonderful link. Learning in hand answers several questions that we've been thinking about-how to control student access, Apple's app policy, and web apps. I can't wait to explore it more tonight.
