I grab YouTube clips that effectively communicate multi-step tasks to moderate to severely involved students on the Spectrum. I find that using sequential clips engages students quickly, more effectively and for longer periods of time.

I would like to collaborate with people who think this could prove valuable and would like to explore the potential.
For the past 2 years, I have used the computer to successfully engage nearly 200 language-impaired students on the Spectrum in activities that promote metacognition, language and communication. I believe the computer is an under-utilized tool that can be of immediate benefit to any classroom without regard to academic, social, intellectual or communication skills.

This zagat-style guide will offer an easier, more informative means of comparing current DVDs, programs, sites using both objective measures as well as accurate, anecdotal information such as: Is it useful? Does it work? How well? How would you improve it?

A network of classroom teachers, parents and other caretakers in a testing/reporting network would will demonstrate the power of the Web in working for autism and education.
I would use it to enable my autistic students to photograph and save images from a neighborhood trip for later discussion. The system would also allow me to program a separate shopping list for each student. I would love to see a student scan a box of cereal to see if it is on his shopping list (represented as a word or PECS symbol). The scan would also tally deductions from the shopping budget. Owe $9.25? Scan the $20 bill in your hand and the system will tell the student how much change to get back.
If readers will suggest their own uses, I will post them on my Classroom 2.0 page and create a poll for the best suggestions. If our list is worthy, I will propose it for discussion at the Media Lab. Perhaps we can get a pilot going in a few schools.
