- I'm a teacher and lecturer in social sciences, currently working at Maghull High School and for the Open University.
I've been using the Internet integrally in my work for 8 years, including the use of Web 2.0 technology in and out of the classroom.
Some things I've learned along the way:- It's amazing how much work can be done on MSN, especially at exam time.
- Trying to convince students that podcasting is the best thing they could ever get involved in is not easy.
- Convincing colleagues is even harder.
- VLEs never quite do what we would like them to do.
- Writing your own web apps eats entire summer breaks.
- The Internet rocks when it comes to learning and it's not so bad for teaching either!
Current and Past Work:
I bought my domain name (social-science.co.uk) in 2002 and built a simple html website, tried Moodle, thought I'd have a go at building my own version and here I am.
The current incarnation of my site features members' services, including practice exam questions, peer / tutor assessment, quizzes and quiz building, sharing of resources, online forums, discussion groups and just keeps growing all the time.
