Hi Jack. Thanks for the note. Please send the details, by email, to our youth services librarian at the Utah State Library, Susan Ludington, sludington@utah.gov, or reach her by phone at (801) 715-6742.
Hi Jack! I love the project. I'm only working as an adjunct right now--and online--so I don't have a lot of contact with students. I did include BrainyFlix and the contest in the course, the course blog and shared bookmarks so they know about it and might try it with their students. I'll look forward to seeing the entries! --djb
Hello Jack! I actually don't deal directly with students. I am at a Regional Service Center and I serve 65 districts in the Panhandle of Texas. I have forwarded the information and if any of them are interested, they'll be contacting you. :) Sounds like an exciting adventure, though.
Jennifer M.
Hi Jack, it may factor into our future second semester. I'll definitely give it a look. In the mean time we mentioned it in the Middle School Matters podcast a few weeks ago. Hope that helps out the participation!
I don't teach, but I passed it on to two teachers who do video with their students as well as our Director of Guidance. I'll also pass it on to others within my region.
Hi, Jack, I'm not currently in a classroom (but that may change soon, with the CA budgetary woes), but I have access to lots of classrooms. I will pass it on to our junior high English teachers and to some of my 5th and 6th grade colleagues!
Hi Jack,
Our school is a 4-9th grade all boys independent day school, so our boys typically are focused on the SSAT, not the SAT -- I will forward your BrainyFlix web site to our English Department. Thanks for the FYI and good luck! Lisa
Jack,
I teach a lot of videography, photoshop, etc. to teachers, however I do not have direct connections with students. I will be passing this info on to teachers in our regional agency. Wonderful idea and nice site... Dave
Jack, I have a group that would be really interested. I'll run it by them and show them the site. We could make it a class project. Thanks for the info.
Thanks for the comment... I'll check this out and plan to share it w/ my new "crop" of juniors later this year (still finishing up w/ seniors at this point.)
I will pass the information along. I do not have any direct students but do have access to teachers looking for opportunities for students to create content.
Jack,
I too, will pass along your information to the ITRT in my county that serves middle and high school. I work with elementary teachers and students.
Susan
Hi Jack,
I teach 3rd-6th grade -- no child prodigies in the group, so none studying for SAT that I know of. I can forward your interest to some teachers at the local high school; perhaps there will be a "taker." Thanks for the contact info.
Debbie
Dear Jack, I hope I can help my students contribute to your site. One comment the kids made when I showed them the existing videos was that videos looked a lot like workbooks on tape. It is curious that talented technologically able folks end up with talking head movies that promote the use of video in the classroom or workbook like videos. I don't know if my students can do any better, but I will encourage them to try. Thanks for asking.
Hey Jack - FYI
I've assigned a Vocab Video to all of the students (about 20) in my Media Arts class. It turned out to be perfect timing since we just finished a video project.
We'll be in touch!
Hi Jack,
Sorry I haven't been back to check my account lately so I'm just getting your vocab video contest invite. I'm getting the info together now and will head over to the high school to drum up some interest!
Let me know if there are any details I should know about that may not come across on the http://www.brainyflix.com/ site.
Jack,
I know I may be a bit delayed in responding, but please respond if you are still in need of participants. I will take some time in the next day to explore BrainyFlix.com.
Much appreciated,
Laura V.
I'm interested in hearing more. I teacher honors students and they would probably be interested in doing something like that, but I'd like to hear more details. Best email to get to me at is: yearlingb@fortschools.org
Looking forward to it.
We are also starting a video productions/editing class that I will be teaching next year, so perhaps this could tie in somehow.
Hi Jack,
I have talked to several teachers about doing this project with my students. We do a short power point with video as a project at the end of our sixty day course. I want to introduce the idea to the kids and give them this as an option. My only problem is that I do not have access to uploading anything to the web without administration approval. I will have to check this out.
Cathy
PS I teach 6th 7th and 8th. Is this limited to only 8th grade?
Thanks for passing that on, Jack. It looks like a great contest. I'll talk to my kids about it, but I'm guessing this would be a better fit with my dept. chair's AP class & a project they already do. I'll pass it on to him.
Thanks again.
This is a great idea. We have a network of schools in Alabama. I'll share it with our secondary schools and see what interest is there. On a related note, the elementary group this year is working on developing essential vocabularly for grades pk - 5. Do you have anything there? Thanks for sharing this and I'll be in touch.

I handed your note to the teacher at my school who does SAT preps. Will let you know if she responds.
