I am a retir(ing) teacher who worked for Worcester Public Schools, Doherty Memorial High School, MA. I also taught at Worcester State College and Mount Wachusett Community College, Evening Divisions.
I taught English, many aspects from AP Literature, English and American Literature to Film and Literature, Women and Literature, Creative Writing and...
In the last eight or so years before I retired, I became obsessed with connecting curriculum with technology. My projects ranged from creating class web sites (for my courses and for other teachers) via blackboard (when it was free) to collaborating with Dianne Klien and her students at Bowling Green High School (Ohio), web-based learnings, hyper-text research papers, PowerPoint presentations, etc.
Now I, like many, am absolutely passionate about Web 2.0 and the possibilities for educators. I am especially enthralled with Nings. Nings are free and offer many features for classroom teachers. Once again, we are only limited by the lack of our imaginations.
Presently I have a consulting business, Blackfish Ed, that emphasizes making easy connections between curriculum and technology for educators. (Hey, hire me...no retirement or health insurance to pay... A Great Deal for the both of us!)
Hi Joann! Hope you're enjoying the winter break. I was wondering if you, your educator contacts or students would be interested in participating in a Vocab Video Contest @ MIT. Please let me know. Thanks!
