Jack - the website (BrainyFlix.com) says submissions need to be in already. Is this a typo?
  • Christopher Thomsen

I will make the other departments aware of the opportunity. Thank you and good luck. Does "@ MIT" actually mean students traveling to Boston or just their work?
  • Tanya Travis

    Hi Jack,
    I'll pass this along.
  • Cheryl Oakes

Hi Jack, I have already passed this to my high school people. I will send a reminder for Jan. 5 when they return to school. I think it is an awesome opportunity. The kids will love it.

Jack I went to the contest site and it said the end date for submitting entries was March 16, 2008. It's now 09, (how did that happen). Is this still a valid contest. My team teacher may be interested in participating in it.
  • Terry Parent

Sounds great! How do we pick words? I definitely want to participate. I'll get something going.
  • Kerrie Gustin

    Greetings Jack!

I will pass your request along to my husband Jamie, who is one of the technology coaches for our district here in Magnolia. I'm pretty sure he will be able to find some secondary folks who would love the opportunity to participate. Thanks for the contact!
  • Cathy

    Hi Jack,
Will pass on the info. to our secondary and tech teachers with the new date for submission being 3/16/09.
    Thanks from Hawaii

Thanks for the invite Jack--I will pass it along !
  • Lucinda

    Jack,

Yes. I would definitely be interested in this, and I'll pass along the info to my colleagues. I saw some similar projects that students had done with vocabulary words when I attended the National Council of Teachers of English in San Antonio recently and had already thought of implementing this in my classroom. Thanks so much for the invite!

Thanks Jack I will surely pass this along to some of my colleagues!! Great idea!!!!!!! I will announce it at church and at my job.... etc.
  • Carol Good

Thanks for the invite. I think my kids would love this; I'll bring it to my admin and see what their take on it is. If it's good for admin, I'll bring it to my students.

Thanks for looking me up. One quick question that is not addressed in the rules, are movies allowed to be used as a foundation, or does it have to be the tapes of students? e.g. I've taken a scene from Shaolin Soccer and overlayed the information to teach students "kenetic energy" or "shockwave" - add some music and it ends up being similar to a music video with popup info. Is this allowed for the competition?
  • Karen Foerch

    Definitely interested!! Send more infor!
  • Rafika Soaries

Hi, thanks for the invite. I am interested. I will present it to some of the districts I work with.

  • Eli Steier

    Hi,

Thanks for the invite. At the moment, I am not interested but I will keep it in mind for the future.

I feel it is important students analyze and understand the impact different technologies have on their lives;both positively and negatively. Do you have any ideas for lessons on the subject?

    Best,
    Eli
  • Steve Brock

Thanks for your note, Jack. I'm teaching a class in the spring and may add your project for my students.
  • Nocturnal

Let me get back to you on that. I will reply soon. Must verify but I think it sounds great.
  • Sarah Zykanov

I'll ask around with the high school level teachers I support. This would be a nice way to show them what kids COULD easily be doing.
  • Sandra Wozniak

I teach a 6th grade course in 21st Century skills, I know the vocab is tough, but hey they can do one word! This should be a fun project for the new year!
  • Danielle

Hi Jack! I added it to my LD 3 Arts website. Thanks for the info!
  • Susanne Lercher

Hi Jack. I teach library in an Intermediate School (grades 3-5). Were you looking for middle schoolers or high schoolers? All the librarians in my district (Commack) will be meeting on Wednesday, 1/7 after school. Can you send me some info that I can present to them? I do not think that they are members of Classroom 2.0, so could you send me a hyperlink to forward to them? They may know of classroom teachers who would be interested in presenting this to their students.

Thanks for sending me the info.
    Regards,
    Sue

Can you give me more information or a web address I can check out? Sounds intriguing!
  • Barbara

Got it - just saw Jill vacillating - very cute and looks like a lot of fun. i need to check out school policy on kids submitting videos through school. All of the legal issues are rather new to us. I'll try to get back to you tomorrow. I gather the rules are on the BrainyFlix.com site.
  • Alice Schmitz

    Jack,
I will talk with our tech director about the possibility. As I believe I saw on someone else's comment . . . got to make sure there aren't any legal ramifications, etc., etc., etc.

It does sound very interesting. I hope I will be given the "go ahead" and can spread the word!
  • Ernest Koe
