    Jack,

I am back in school on Monday and I will ask my students. I will get back to you. Are the videos available to all students even if they don't make one?
  • Dan French

I will pass the word along in Vermont.

    Dan
  • Bob Greenberg

    Hi Jack,

    Happy New Year,
    Bob

  • Lynn

Please provide more details regarding your vocab contest.
  • Lynn

    Jack,
I will go a head an blog it and I think we will try to participate. Depends on how my kids do with their first assignment back from break.
  • Kim Breuninger

Hi Jack, I think it is a great idea and will advertise it to our 12 school districts. Keep me posted. I'll also sign up for updates. Thanks, Kim
  • Jan Bratcher

Please send me the info and I will see what kind of interest I can work up with my teachers! Sounds great!
  • Keerie

sounds interesting - our district is always trying to improve vocab. I have middle schoolers that take the ISAT - Illinois Standard Achievement Test - not the college entry SAT but vocab is always our weakest part. What a fun way to boost interest - and I am always looking for new video projects.
  • Julie Meierdirks

Wow! What a great idea to improve vocabulary! I'll ask around at our school to see if anyone would be interested. Let me know if there's any more information that I need to share with them. Thanks for asking!
  • Keith Schroeder

I'll put the word out and see what kind of interest I can drum up!
  • LisaGarner

    Happy New Year Jack!

I work for a pretty prestigious prep school and many of our past students have attended to MIT, so I am certain that some of our current students would be interested. Email me the info and I'll pass it on!
  • Jennifer Jensen

    Jack,
I think our 6th graders might be able to do this. Is there additional information that you can email me? I'm interested in learning more about the words - are they assigned?
  • Laurie Staley

Thaanks, Jack. Good idea. I have to check into our video capabilities at our school. By the way, I came from NJ, but I live and teach in Washington State.
  • LStavros

I am working at a middle school this year teaching math, but I can get you contact info for the school I worked at last year. Its a technology academy and the principal is pushing for podcasts etc with a school wide emphasis on vocabulary.
  • Stephanie Penniman

    Hey Jack!
This looks like a lot of fun. My students are 8 years old, limited English, and have a style of humor that is WAY different than that of middle school, high school kids--but give us a try and we'll see what happens. Let me know how the words are assigned. Thanks!
  • Leona White

I work in an elementary school but I will contact my middle school and high school tech buddies to see if they are interested. Happy New Year!
  • Valorie DeLeon

I will pass on the info on.
  • Dori F

That sounds great. I will talk to the Language Arts teachers and see what we can do. I love your idea...
  • Mandy Yan

Hi Jack - I teach elementary so I am not sure how many people at my school would be interested in SAT Vocab - I would suggest emailing our Superintendent, Carol Comeau, comeau_carol@asdk12.org. Hope that helps!!
  • Debora Steele

Greetings, Jack. I have quite a few creative kids who fancy themselves future filmmakers, so yes, I will get my students on this!
  • Jeff Kessler

Hi Jack, I passed the contest info on to my middle high school administration and english department.
  • Lisa Garner

Thank you for the info. about the contest. Great idea! I will forward to the English teachers and other teachers in the sophomore academy at my school. My middle school son is also interested in submitting some videos.

    Lisa Garner

    Harold
  • Kimberly Herbert

I wold be very interested in participating - but we are an Elementary school at the rules say Middle or High School. Could my upper elementary school students participate? (3rd - 5th grade)
  • Jose Gigante

Thank you for this offer. I teach Spanish at my school, but will pass this on to the English department head. They may want to participate. Looks like it would be a fun project for students.

  • J Grear

I plan on mentioning this to my kids.
  • Harold Olejarz

    Jack,

Would it be possible to have the contest split so that there can be a middle school winner and a HS winner?
    Harold
  • Katie Neville

I'll take a look tomorrow and let you know. We're always up for doing something fun.
  • Jill Thoreson

    Jack,
Yes! We are very interested in competing in the SAT vocab video contest! (Well, I am - I haven't discussed it with my students-or anyone else at school). But I love videos as a way of teaching vocabulary. I teach a reading class for 9th and 10 grade students with IEP reading goals. A few weeks ago we started creating a digital dictionary - an idea I got from watching Wordia online. My students loved creating and videotaping. I know some would be interested in spending time after school to create videos. I will go to your site and get all the details and share them with my students next week!
  • Buffy Hamilton

    Hi!

I will certainly ask around when we return to work next week! I will give you an update then. Thank you for the invite and the link! :-)
    Best, Buffy

What a fun idea! I will pass it on to my high school colleagues and will consider it for my middle school students, too.

    Anne
  • Robert James

    Hi,
I will ask around to see if any of the Language arts teachers wish to get involved. I know there are issues involved in access for students to certain types of social networking.

    Bob

Hi Jack, Deadline on the site notes March 16th 2008....if this is an error please let me know. I can get this out when I know. Nice project....MM
  • Mary LaVergne

I love this idea! I definitely will have my darlings do one and will put the word out on several list-serves here in Arkansas to see if I can drum up some other interest. I have spent alot of time this year trying to get my students to understand the importance of vocabulary. This will be fun way to get some of them motivated.
    Thanks for the invitation.
    Mary

I will also blog about the contest on my NJ educator blogs- hopefully that will get you some more NJ kids participating. Good Luck & Happy New Year!
