Aloha e Jack,
This contest looks great! I just called my husband who is the Media teacher at another school and told him about it. He plans to use this as a project in his classes. I'll pass the word over hear as best I can.
Thanks. I have passed the link along to our Director of Instructional Technology. We will check it out and possibly pass the information on to the schools in our county. I will be able to pass along any interests to you. Thanks again! It sounds like an interesting approach to vocabulary.
Thanks so much!!! I have been wanting to add a "fun" element to my ACT Prep class; the contest is perfect:)
I tried to sign up my email address on the site in two different areas and it said it was rejected. Please add my email address to the contest pencilbo@websterpsb.org
Also does the video only focus on one word? Or can a few words be in each video?
Thanks for the invite for the NYC kids. I will forward this to colleagues at two different schools who might be able to get some kids to submit to the contest.
Jack,
I like the idea of students making vocabulary videos. Can you showcase another video besides the "repudiate" video? I would like to pass this idea on to my English Department at Watertown High, and while that video might appeal to some students, I'm not sure that using that particular video will entice my English teachers.
Ann
Hi Jack
When I return to school I will ask,,,, Barb our chem teacher works more with junior than I. Seniors and freshmen are my usual students... If you can find Barb Deardorff.. we signed up at the same time she can put you in touch with our SAT canidates
Jack-
I am interested and I know another member of the staff is interested as well. Please know that You Tube is blocked at our school and a lot of other ones in the area. How about using Teacher Tube which is not blocked.
I wouldn't know how to do it. You might consider going to www.SheroesCentral.com and posting it there in one of the education or reading message boards (or both). Sheroes is a message board with members ranging all over the world, and this is something they might back. Be sure to drop a message to the site administrators when you do post so they know you're kosher.
I appreciate the offer, but unfortunately, I am currently finished with student teaching. So as of right now, I am not teaching. However, my brother does teach high school English and I will run this past him. Thanks,
Hi Jack,
Aloha from Hawaii! It's raining off and on in Hawaii but temperatures are around 80 degrees... I send you warm sunny wishes from Hawaii!
Thanks for the invite. What a wonderful idea! I teach middle school students but I will forward the information to the high school teachers at my school.
Hi Jack, It sounds interesting! Can you give me more informaton about this? My students are special needs teens from 14-18 but we do have vocabulary words. Let me know. Thanks for contacting me. Cindy
Jack, please give me more info concerning this activity. If my students are not suitable for this perhaps I can give the info to another teacher in my system. Thanks!
Jack, please send me more info on this activity. If it doesn't fit our curriculum standards then i can at least pass it on to a grade level where it might be more appropriate.
Sure, Jack,
As the other insructors said, tell me more. I teach a video class (second year at a two-year college) during Winter Quarter, if that fits in with your program. We'd love to participate in some way.
All my best,
Bill
I would love to hear more about this opportunity. I have 10 schools (6 elem, 2 middle, 2 high) that I provide technology training to. I also work with teachers and students on technology projects and intitiatives.
Yes Jack, I am interested. I teach SAT prep at the HS level and would love to get my 3rd quarter students involved. Is everything I need to know on the website?
Jack, as others have commented I would like to know more about your project. I am a Special Education teacher at the High School level and I have a variety of classes/responsibilities. If I am unable -- there are several others at my school who may be interested and able to participate. Please tell me more so I can see what I can do. : )
Hi Jack,
I have to say no. We have such rigid telecommunications in Baltimore County that it's hard to do much of anything with the kids online. No videos/still or online pics/email......etc. Parent permission is hard to get because the new forms for permission are too involved/difficult for most to understand! It has taken months for us to b able to get most permission to access the Internet and we still have some who aren't able to because parents won't allow access or they don't understand what they are being asked to sign. I will pass on the idea to friends in other counties though. Thanks for the invitation.
Jack: This looks promising. I want to give it serious consideration, and I'll recommend it as well to my colleagues here in Alaska. Is there an approved "SAT" vocabulary list we're supposed to create the commercials/infomercials for? Art
I love the SAT Vocab Minute you all do, I will have to see if my students are up to it. Have to give it some thought. Thanks for getting in touch. Are you just needing them to do videos on some piece of SAT vocab?
just looked it up online looks really neat! My students are elementary. So I am not sure that this would be something my students could participate in on the SAT level but would be a great vocab work out for younger students also.
I think we might definitely be interested. In Illinois we also take the ACT, but I'm sure there are some word overlaps. I'll ask my students when we get back from break (Jan, 5th)
