Note- this is a bit of a ramble - I'm home resting off a nasty cold that came along with the flu.
I'm a school psychologist, but I spend quite a bit of time writing observation summaries, behavior reports, and psychological evaluation reports!
Although I attend UNC-C, I've been taking courses in the computer science and software/information systems department. I've been toying with the idea of teaching high school computer classes.
Right now, I work 3 days a week with students who have multiple special needs. I've worked in regular education settings for most of my career. I've been working part-time so I can take computer courses.
I have an application to the Ph.D. program in IT on hold, as my father has been very ill for the past year or so. He lives in Michigan, so I've been out of town quite a bit.
I usually don't venture far from the IT building when I'm on campus, due to time constraints. I've spoken with an adviser from the Special Education department as well as someone from the Ed. Tech department.
Next time I'm on campus with some time to kill, I'll check the writing program out. I just bookmarked the website for the national program. Thanks for the links!
By the way, when I was full-time at an elementary school (for 8 years!), I helped prepare 4th grade students for the state writing test each year.
Of course, I worked with the students who were struggling in school, with learning, attention, or behavior.
I have so many materials that are in file folders from that era- 1993-2001 that I'd like to transform into an interactive "2.0". I focused on integrating literacy into my individual growth plan as often as I could.
I worked at the middle and high school level since 2001, and up until about 2 years ago, I was mostly in regular education settings.
