I just listened to a great talk by teachers who were sharing experiences with 1:1 iPads with KG and and Grade 2 students.  If you get a chance the chat is recorded on future of education.  I took some notes during the chat and have a list of resources and apps they discussed that I will post soon...

Kendall, We just finished our first week with every student in the high school carrying around their iPads. I can truly say it was an amazing experience. I create modules in Moodle and park all my documents there so this was a near paperless week for me except for a written assignment I collected on Friday. I will detail the week on my Blog at myipadadvenure.wordpress.com

Hi we are using iPads for Yr 12 and introducing to Yr 11 next year.
Laura, saw some directions on how to develop apps on a few sites, something Id like to get into too.
Mark, we are starting to use Sharepoint, its similar to Moodle, but our uptake is painfully slow.
Daniel, paperless sounds good, I always think it would be a shame to lose the art of hand writing though. At the moment, our Yr 12 exams are still hand written so we are in a situation of wanting to move forward with iPad technology but having the students hand write their responses in the assessments and exams.

I'm developing an iPad app for Biology (and general science) education & I thought I could learn from teachers directly what would be most useful!

We use Moodle which is a nice open source software you can develop courses in, check it out and let me know if it is of use. I develop courses in Moodle and students can access lessons, Powerepoints, links, etc. You can have forums, blogs, quizzes, it is like Blackboard but free.

I too am looking for information on the same topic...not a lot out there. Our school uses Google Apps, but I have found that it is probably not going to work on the iPad for all the functionality I need. What I really want to accomplish is having a paperless classroom via iPads. So far it looks like in addition to Google, I am looking at using the Box.net and Pages apps. This will allow me to distribute handouts and readings, allow the students to add their work, and then resubmit to a specific folder in the cloud. Still on the hunt for stories/hint from others about apps and workflow regarding the iPad.

As we have just started a 1:1 iPad initiative at my high school I thought it might be a good idea to collaborate with others who might be able to shed light on best practices for this amazing tool. Sky's the limit, don't be shy, good, bad, and ugly are welcome.
