Has anyone created apps with students? I keep hearing about kids creating apps and my students have asked if they can do it. However, I do not understand coding. I tried downloading an older version of xcode on one of our lab macs, but it didn’t work. We don’t have enough newer macs (OS10.7) to download the newer xcode. But, I don’t know if I would know how to do it anyway. Does anyone know of a free program with instructions to make game apps or easy apps?

I created an app using Magmito. It is minimal in cost and so easy to use. I plan on using it with my students. My uncle, a college professor, has his students use it for assignments in his class.  Check it out at either www.didmo.com or www.magmito.com

Hi Val,

There are many software you can use to create iOS apps. These are "tools" that aid the development process using simple web-based interface, and not the complex process that involved programming with objective-C and Xcode. But they do have limitations of what features you can develop in an app. Primarily these tools leverage the existing web content and RSS feeds.

Here are some of them:

  1. Conduit Mobile - http://mobile.conduit.com/
  2. School Connect - http://www.schoolconnectservices.com/
  3. Applite - http://applite.co.uk/
  4. Appsbuilder - http://www.apps-builder.com/en/home
  5. Buildanapp - http://www.buildanapp.com/home
  6. Mobile Roadie - https://mobileroadie.com/
  7. My App - http://myappinc.com/

I am happy to answer more questions.
