Just curious. If the answer is yes, could you give me the details? Early release? Late Start? Every Week? Every other week? How much time are you given? Who decides how you use your time? Do you truly collaborate? Etc etc.

What's the best free application you've found that students can use to create a timeline? I'm so frustrated! So many amazing applications are out there - I know there must be something that I'm just missing.

I'd love to have one of those 3D programs, but that's not in the budget at the moment. It would be nice to at least be able to insert pictures. At the moment my Intro to the Humanities students need it, but this comes up in my various English classes as well.

Any tips? Thanks! Time- I need it!! I have been a lurker on this forum for a little bit, and that isn't by choice...it is because of time constraints. I have the time to multi-task and scan through here while I am doing many other things- but haven't had the chance to reply. With that confession out of the way- I thought I would seek help, advice, or any useful tips you have about managing tech and time.
This is my first year working with technology for an elementary campus. And I love technology, but since I don't have my own classroom and am trying to teach/reach teachers on how to use technology in their classroom, I often feel like an invader.
So, how can I be most effective at teaching the teachers to integrate technology- without burdening their also full schedule? I have experienced that when I play with the technology, I learn it faster and see how easy it is to use. But- trying to get teachers to take that time- it feels like a burden to them.
So- hi and help :)
Do you have any questions that you would like us to ask? Whatever happened to Mastery Learning?tag:www.classroom20.com,2009-06-25:649749:Topic:3570072009-06-25T01:13:57.431ZIan Grove-Stephensenhttps://www.classroom20.com/profile/yacapaca
I have been reading "Schools, Society and Mastery Learning" (Block, 1974) with the intention of reconnecting with some of the theory behind e-learning. Looking across different educational areas now, I see fragments of the Mastery model in use, and frequently in misuse. What I do not see is either its consistent application or a coherent critique.
Can anyone help me with pointers to either
I hope to pull this together into a blog post, and will of course credit all sources. Freedom From Choice: How too much technology leads to no technologytag:www.classroom20.com,2009-06-12:649749:Topic:3523272009-06-12T13:03:57.488ZTim Holthttps://www.classroom20.com/profile/timholt2007
I wrote this blog entry after seeing Dr. Barry Schwartz' "Paradox of Choice" speech on TedTalks.
Please leave a comment on the site. I think this is an important discussion, especially in these times of no time, prescriptive curriculum, and emphasis on testing.

Thanks
Looks like the "Presentation" Tool category is the most logical place to discuss this sort of thing, but I am surprised it doesn't have a category of it's own (since the Presentations topic seems to be rather broadly interpreted). Anyway, I think this is great a technology to tap into from an educational support perspective. There are so many tools out there that can be used to create audio-visual web based presentations which can be used to support lectures, to help in self-teaching situations, or to allow students to create fun, engaging "e-reports" for assignments. I checked out a few of these tools in a blog posting (http://www.emergingedtech.com/?p=52) in Feburary, and plan on going back for a "deeper dive" before long, but would love to hear more from instructors who have used these. I would think there is a so much potential for fun, different kinds of approaches for presentations, both from the instruction side of things, and for creative ways to make "reports" or present class projects. So, have any of you used Vuvox, One True Media, Slideshare, or any other tools like these in instructional situations? If so, what are your observations? I'm currently a teaching intern at an independent school in AZ, so I'm big into progressive edu, can anyone help steer me in the right direction???
Thanks! Help - When to schedule a Webcast?tag:www.classroom20.com,2009-02-12:649749:Topic:2904792009-02-12T13:31:43.721ZCatherinehttps://www.classroom20.com/profile/Catherine
ACTE is scheduling a Webcast soon, and I'm trying to pick a time that would give classroom teachers the greatest chance to attend. I was thinking of 2:30 or 3pm ET/11:30 or noon PT as a time when East Coast teachers have just finished class and Pacific Coast and Mountain Time teachers may be at lunch. Unfortunately neither of those times are great for Central Time teachers.

Any feedback? I've heard that it's confusing to start a Webcast on the half-hour, but I'm not sure I agree with that.

I work for Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race as their educational director. One of my responsibilities is to develop curriculum aligned to standards that integrates the race into the classroom. I'm looking for new ideas as to how some of you integrate real time events (ANY EVENT!) into your units. Even though the race is my primary topic (along with Alaska--- all things Alaska) I know I can learn a lot from how others are using real events--- Olympics, sports events in your own communities,…

I look forward to hearing ideas you have on any topic that lends itself to using technology as a tool in real time event --- adventure learning projects.
