Hi everyone! I've never posted here before so hopefully I'm doing this right! I'm looking to curate a list of ed tech for my classroom. I teach middle school math and I'm specifically looking for technology that will allow my students to create and collaborate (but I would love to hear about any tech that you use). What technology do you use in your classroom that you love?

This is absolutely the very best math program ever created! I do not want this to sound like a television commercial for a miracle product; I am just that excited about it. I've implemented it in first, fourth and fifth grade, and it works!

Every student deserves the opportunity to love, and to excel in, mathematics! Every school can raise the motivation of their students, as well as their mathematical understanding, and yes, their test scores! It is so easy, and so much fun!

I implemented it in my FIRST GRADE class - they loved it! Here are some things my first graders were doing:

addition in the millions,

algebra

graphing coordinates (all four quadrants!)

converting fractions to decimals, and vice versa

adding and subtracting mixed fractions

determining area and perimeter of irregular polygons

determining volume and mass

simple probability and statistics

working in Base 10 - and many other bases!

memorized all their addition and subtraction tables - painlessly!

And a lot more!

This math program is THE way for children to learn, and UNDERSTAND, their math concepts. They will have loads of fun doing so! They will have no fear of math! They will believe they are Einsteins!

Here is a video of some first graders doing the Monster Math - a demonstration at the Texas State Legislature!

This program requires no textbooks - no expensive equipment. Math concepts and test scores will soar! Guaranteed!

I did not invent it. I found out about it from a parent of one of my first graders - please see more here!

I have located the creator of this program after many years, and we are now offering it to you. The first (new) MOVE IT, Math! Institute is in Las Vegas on January 28 and 29!

If you would like to discuss starting a pilot program at your school or district please contact Dr. Paul Shoecraft, the developer/creator of MOVE IT, Math!

The research, and some powerful testimonials, are available.

Please share this with your colleagues. This program is designed for K-8, and is great as a fast remediation for students at any grade level!

What can a small organization with great content / professional development do to increase it's visibility in the education market? In the opinion of educators, what makes a brand? What attributes contribute to building a brand: website design? free resources? research studies? pricing? conference presentations? Online courses? Any responses would be appreciated. Thanks. - Kevin

I am looking for a software or site that will allow students assist each other on homework questions online. It would a type of mini-forum but dedicated to students of one class, in say calculus. My hope is that the collaboration will bring the class level higher. A user friendly version of math.stackexchange.com would be nice but it should for students of one class in order to mobilize interaction among them.

Google Earth is the perfect platform for educators who want to construct progressive learning experiences for their students. It is a rich 21st Century resource for any subject area, full of materials and functionality. More than a mapping tool, Google Earth is a vast collection of information where users can view layers of content or add their own. Using its simple tool set, teachers can transform traditional instruction by designing lessons that allow an active investigation of ideas. Students of different learning styles will be able to explore concepts in depth and develop higher-level thinking skills such as analysis, synthesis, and creativity. Real life activities portrayed in a virtual globe add purpose and context to their learning. Google Earth is the perfect application for project-based learning, cross-curricular units, or exploring global themes.

Open source material, such as those provide by Google Lit Trips and Real World Math, serve not only as resources for others but as models of inspiration. Teachers of any subject area or grade level can design customized lessons for their students. I hope you take time to read my Classroom 2.0: The Book chapter and consider how you can use Google Earth in your classroom.
