A colleague and I were recently talking about the SMARTboards we are lucky to have in our classroom. However, we are both at a loss as to how to create activities that are more student-centered. We feel that while we both utilize this tool fairly efficiently, our classroom - at least the technology end of it - is still very teacher centered. How have others managed to move their SMART classrooms from teacher-centered to student-centered?

What kind of activity, project, or website would be a good one to demonstrate the capabilities of this new technology to our classroom? All ideas and suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
SMART's Webinar Series - Spring 2009tag:www.classroom20.com,2009-04-30:649749:Topic:3372302009-04-30T21:52:53.015ZSMART Technologieshttps://www.classroom20.com/profile/SMARTtech

Good morning, everyone!
I have encountered a problem in my district that I am hoping some one out there may be able to solve. There are several teachers who upon attempting to print their Notebook lesson for students it freezes their computer and of course the printing is not successful. I have contacted SMART about this problem and have not received a solution as yet. Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone know of a solution? Thank you in advance for your responses.
The school board says, "It is hard to admit, but it is abundantly clear that we will fail the vast majority of children in Denver if we try to run our schools the same old way."

The opinion piece goes on to lay out a vision that includes: great principals, excellent teachers, school choice, site level control, monitoring progress, and greater transparency.

They conclude: "In this new century, every child's success is no longer merely a matter of rhetoric. It is a moral imperative. That pressure we all feel derives from something much nobler than "No Child Left Behind" or CSAP scores. What is at stake is the future of our democracy, and we know that 21st century kids will not succeed with 20th century skills."

So, is this empty rhetoric, or a board that's ready to embrace School 2.0? Any Denverites here?
