In continuing with this research, we developed an Action Phase Document, as well as a Children's book. The phase document was created because the authors believe that the concept of action is more a state of mind than a product. Action can only make a resonating difference to and in the world when it is developed in tandem with a toolbox of explicitly taught skills, modeled behaviors, scaffolded plans and a gradual release of responsibility.

This document contains a service-learning curriculum framework, which includes: strands, sub-strands, phases and online resources that complement the skills focused on at each stage of the learning journey towards sustained action. It is available here: http://www.helptakeaction.com/action-phase-document.html

The children's book that we created is now available in Print version and will soon be available as an eBook.
This is happening on the robust, safe social learning platform called ePals LearningSpace. You can see a video about that at: https://learningspace.epals.com.

Other tools from ePals are free, such as SchoolMail, which is designed for school use and has features that teachers want to use (unlike gmail or other general market email systems). I do webinars on how to use the free tools. I am posting an event for Friday, Sept. 3, at 11 a.m., targeting PD folks and professors, if you are interested.

All email systems are not created equal....some like ePals have TRUSTe certirfication....so know what you are getting into if you are providing free email addresses to students to encourage communication, collaboration, and authentic writing situations.
