 Ben Johnson\nAs mentioned in last month’s newsletter, Sir Ken Robins
 on will be delivering a keynote speech and discuss ‘The Element’ h

  a keynote speech followed by a Q&A session. Professor Byron will be d
 iscussing the Byron review and the way forward for schools in the UK o
 n the subject of Internet Safety.\nBen Johnson Ben Johnston was born i
 n Llandudno, north Wales. He studied at the Royal College of Art in Lo
 ndon. His first solo exhibition was held in New York in 1969. He is th
 e only painter to have been made an honorary Fellow of the Royal Insti
 tute of British Architects (RIBA), having been elected in 1990.\nJohns
 on's pictures of buildings and architecture are large and highly detai
 led. His cityscapes have so far included Hong Kong, Jerusalem, Zurich,
  and Liverpool. The last was painted for Liverpool's European City of 
 Culture celebrations in 2008. It took three years to complete, with th
 e artist working alongside up to eleven assistants, and was completed 
 during an artist residency at the Walker Art Gallery. The cityscapes a
 re painted from aerial viewpoints, using models to achieve the correct
  composition. \"artistic licence\" is employed to create \"ideal\" vie
 ws of the subject cities.\n\nJohn Davitt is a writer, broadcaster and 
 a digital toolmaker. He has worked in the education sector for the las
 t twenty-five years as an English teacher, senior manager and regional
  adviser with the EU Flexible Learning Project. As a journalist he wro
 te for the UK Guardian, The Times and The Observer, with a regular fea
 ture in the Education Guardian. John has worked extensively with teach
 ers in schools in UK, USA, China and Africa and he is committed to lev
 elling the playing field regarding access to new learning opportunitie
 s. He is the author of the book “New Tools for Learning” (2006) a 
 practical guide as to how to make the technology fit the learning need
 , and the WordRoot CD an interactive guides to words and their etymolo
 gy. He has recently developed The Learning Score a visual tool that le
 ts teachers map out and share learning intentions as a graphical event
  - rather like a music score. His latest project is the open source Le
 arning Event Generator (http://legwork.pbwiki.com) and the Rag - an in
 teractive learning tool for the iPhone where you can literally shake u
 p a learning challenge. His new book 'Setting Learning Free - The Diff
 erence Engine runs again' will be published in spring 2009.\nThis even
