DESCRIPTION:\nTIGed is offering three professional development e-cour
 ses for teachers this Fall: \"Project-based Learning for Global Citize
 nship\", “Education for Environmental Stewardship” and \"Empowerin
 g Student Voice in Education\". These graduate-level, accredited cours
 es are designed to support teachers in bringing the world into their c
 lassrooms through the use of e-technologies and international partners
 hips to help students understand global perspectives, environmental is
 sues and student voice. For more information about TIGed’s e-courses

 ning for Global Citizenship\" is taught by Jennifer D. Klein. The goa
 l of this course is to develop teachers’ understanding of and compet
 encies in technology-enabled global education. Using TIGed’s online 
 forums as a basis, we will explore why global education is so vital cu
 rrently, and how to develop authentic and transformative global experi
 ences for students.In particular, teachers will be exposed to the foll
 owing key areas:- Foundational strategies and pedagogies for effective
  global educational design- Project-Based and Inquiry-Based Learning p
 rinciples as applied to student-driven global learning and leadership 
 development- Key e-technologies behind authentic, humanizing approache
 s to global education, particularly TIG and TIGed tools which can be u
 sed to empower students as learners and leaders- Interdisciplinary app
 roaches which enrich students’ experiences, helping them see the int
 erconnectedness of our borderless global challengesGlobal partnership 
 development, including the value of developing collaborative learning 
 relationships between classrooms and schools, and strategies for navig
 ating the challenges- Methods for connecting students with existing gl
 obal and local organizations for partnerships and real-world action- M
 ethods for shifting school thought to create a culture of critical thi
 nking and global leadership, in which students feel empowered to addre
 ss controversial issues and engage in creating change- Examples of eff
 ective global learning projects and how to assess project success- Ass
 essing student learning in global learning projects, both in global co
 mpetencies and traditional academic benchmarksThis course is being off
