Just checking out this ning site and found you involved in lots of discussions about Apple tech.

Most Apple users are not tech oriented, so I tried to objectively add some more tech perspective to a couple threads. I appreciate your broad knowledge on many topics and your reviews of learning systems.

Thanks again for all the info. WE haven't contacted the American Legion, which is a good idea, but we have contacted all of the historical societies in our 5-town school district and they are to be considered "tools of the trade" Members will be at the cemetary and in the classroom. I'll be teaching them how to use a wiki, so they can contribute as well. Maybe you and your wife will visit in mid-Sept?

Fantastic! You are probably familiar with the Westminster System then. Thanks for your interest.

Thanks for the feedback. I'd like to hear your suggestions instead of a wiki. The plan is to have all tenth graders examine our local cemetary, select a headstone from a specific time period, do research(as defined by the teacher), develop a product of some sort using the wiki to collaborate, and post the resulting "project" to a wiki. Each group will ask a question at the end of their wiki to try to get kids from around the world to push the thinking a bit farther, whether it is about the process of historical research, or a particular issue in, say, the 1820's. They should be ready for posting in mid-Sept. Of course, no personally identifiable information will be disclosed.

You were clear enough. I just wasn't sure that I cared as much about the content of what they were learning as much as the process. Having said that, if you're learning processes you probably need a focus, so in my case it would be Australian history, particularly the electoral system, and the three levels of Government. Your area of expertise?

Hello - thanks for the welcome. I'm diving into e-portfolios from the direction of a technologist, and it's good to find a community. Has anyone used Ning itself as an e-portfolio analogue?

Looks like the hang 10 logo from the 70's.
