The lesson I chose to create involves using ePals from the webpage http://www.epals.com. The students in my class will be communicating with other children from around the world learning about their culture and how they live.  On top of the students communicating with their ePal they will also be researching the particular countries their ePals come from online and in the school library.  After they have gathered all of their information, they will created a power point presentation and present it to the class.  This will allow all of the students to learn about more than one culture and see how children from other countries live and how their schools are run.

This lesson is a global activity because the students are interacting with students from other cultures around the world and learning how these cultures live.  The questions that the students are told to ask their ePals and what they are asked to research will truly teach each student about the culture and not teach the children stereotypes about the culture.  I have taught different cultures in the past and it is very difficult to find material and activities that do not paint stereotypes. I want my students to see that there are many similarities but also many differences within our culture and cultures around the world.  I also want them to see how lucky they are to be able to receive a free and equal education
