For my global awareness lesson I chose to use Epals. Epals is a site that allows students the ability to connect to other students from different places around the world in order to enhance learning. I began my lesson by having my students write a written description of their favorite physical activity or sport. Then they were taught how to access Epals in order to complete the remaining parts of the lesson. Students then needed to find a student from another part of the world and discover what their favorite physical activity or sport was as well as details about their culture and country. After researching and recording information about their Epals activity and culture, students had to present their findings to the class. This was a global awareness lesson because students were required to discover new learning from the perspective of someone from another part of the world then themselves. They also were able to find out how their Epals country is different and/or the same as their own. I feel that this lesson is a great tool for teaching diversity and the value of it.
