Hi has anyone any experience of teaching adults with dyslexia, what strategies worked and how did you adapt material so they could access it more easily? I am interested in working with adults with dyslexia any suggestions for extra training in that area? Thanks Ann Guilder

Ann

There is some useful research and information in this link. Towards the bottom there are also several options for training providers.

I have previously been involved with these people who may help.

I have a couple of students with dyslexia in the classes I teach. They get help at the Institute, but I have printed out hand outs in different colours as some dyslexic learners prefer pink etc. I've also written instructions down as sometimes they can't follow them unless its written down in front of them.

Hi Melissa, you're right coloured paper is very helpful, also a larger font size and double line spacing allows text to be read easier. Memory can also be a real problem, so writing instructions down as a bullet point tick list would be really good.
