Here's a great example of a world-wide collaborative learning community that has been created in order to promote international discussions about democracy. Participants were asked to submit their own definitions of democracy in a short video. 700 videos were submitted, and now it is down to 18 finalists. 6 winners, (1 from each region) will win the grand prize. Registered YouTube voters are asked to log in and vote every day on their favorite video until June 15th, 2010.

Here's my video! It is one of three finalists from the western hemisphere. As a teacher and mother, here is my perspective, called "Democracy is a child." I believe that the best way to promote democracy, world peace, and the fulfillment of humankind's potential is to protect, nurture, and invest in the education of our youth.

Even more importantly than the prize is that I am a teacher through example. My goal is to motivate and inspire others to also learn digital media skills. I believe it is a powerful way to communicate your message to the world. Thanks for watching. If you like it, please pass on the link. You can vote for it at the Democracy Video Challenge.
