Hey Lisa

Our Brainyflix video contest just ended, and I wanted to thank you for helping us get the word out. We got 800 submissions from across the country!

That said, MIT was really happy with the results and will let us run another contest, so we're going for it! But this time, we're gonna have kids create Brainypics flashcards - which are images and sentences paired up with a one of our SAT/ACT words. The contest ends May 22nd, and there'll be iTunes and a cash prize like last time. To boot, we'll double the payout if the kids can hit a certain goal. More details at brainyflix.com/main/contest_rules.

Do you mind passing my message along to students and your HS colleagues again?

Thanks,
Jack

Thanks Lisa for a comment. I just started process of buying. It's not easy and can't be just ordered in a minute here.

What's your experience using smartboard whiteboard? I'm looking to import these to my classes but it's quite expensive and I'm not convinced to buy one.

Hi Lisa. I was wondering if your students would be interested in participating in a nationwide SAT Vocab Video Contest @ MIT university. If not, perhaps you have some educator contacts you could direct me to. You can view contest details at BrainyFlix.com Please let me know. Thanks!

Hi Lisa,

wiziq has probably changed a lot since you last use it. Also Flash has gotten better. :)

Hi Lisa,

With your interest in web 2.0 stuff I recommend you take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's power point presentation platform. Both are web based, have a bunch of features and free basic service.

Hi Lisa
I am looking for a good blog that can be monitored, is not blocked by schools, and students can set up their own blogs. You said in a post that you use Blogmeister. How do you like it? How do you get an account?

I am relatively new here. I am from Ghana and I'm just here to learn, contribute as well as link up with like-minded people who will be willing to share their experiences as well as help in spreading the concept of distance learning and adult education to Africa, which lags behind as far as education is concerned. hope to find a friend in you.

Lisa, I have not heard from anyone regarding the collaboration activity. I would really like to get this project up and running. There is another person who has asked me if I am willing to do some collaboration in the Chicagoland area. I would prefer to work with someone more global. However, if she can't do this right now, just let me know and I'll get in touch with this other person. Thanks so much! Have a great weekend!

Hi Lisa,
I'm a friend of Scott Weidig and he was telling me that you have a 4th grade teacher in your building that would be interested in doing some collaboration wtih Chris Van Allsburg's Harris Burdick. If she is still interested, could you please send me her name or have her contact me as soon as possible ? We are on Spring Break this week and I would really like to work with her so we can get geared up for our discussions in the following weeks. Thanks so much! Have a great week!

Hi Lisa,
We made one with an embedded movie clip about cyberbullying in hebrew.
at the bottom of this page:

You can see if your kids can understand the movie clip even though it's in Hebrew. Some of our kids added comments about the cyberbullying situation and how one should react if he encounters it!

Hi Lisa,
I added the VT in two places on our club's wiki.
http://nc-tech.wikispaces.com/%D7%93%D7%A4%D7%99+%D7%99%D7%A6%D7%99%D7%A8%D7%94

and

http://nc-tech.wikispaces.com/Voice+Thread

Our kids had a good time making the additions. This was a great introduction to VT for them.
Last week we commented on a VT containing a video clip on cyberbullying and next week the girls will be designing their own VT.
Thanks for the opportunity.
