A great deal of the approach is traditional in nature - with much more emphasis placed on performance types of assessment - to match up with a philosophy of a more student centered approach to teaching and learning. The technolgy application in many cases is inthe context of reviewing, collecting, and interpreting results from major tests like the PA asessment tests - we review where information can be found and how that inofrmation can be utilized in terms of curricular planning

Thanks so much for the reco on iBrain. I just ordered a hard back copy and also one for my Kindle. I travel a great deal so prefer to take my Kindle for reading when I"m on the go, but end up wanting the print version as well.
Am partway through Gardner's new book too and enjoying. Have you read Disrupting Class? You might enjoy it as well. Like Pink's book, and actually had a chance to get to know him last summer when I had him come to speak about it at a conference I was in charge of. Nice guy, thoughtful, interesting.
When I clicked on your page I noticed that you are from Wilkes Barre. I visited there last winter -- it was my first time to a town that was real important in the history of my mother's family. In fact, one of my ancestors (Thomas Bennet) was a "Forty Forter" and lots of relatives are buried there. Well then I was really intrigued when I saw that you teach at Wyoming Seminary. Some of my relatives help found it, and many of them went there, including my great grandparents (in the 1860s), and my grandfather was sent there from Nebraska in the 90s and graduated from there as well. It was always a place that figured in family lore and I was really excited to visit there in January, and just this morning noticed the Wyoming Seminary coffee mug in my kitchen!
Small world.

Oh yes I have this saying that I am just an "enthusiastic learner" I don't profess (is that a word?) to know everything, but its fun to experiment - but isn't that what we do as teachers/learners anyway - just apply knowledge in new ways??? Nice to meet you Lois. G

Oh Ok, a VOKI is just like a little avatar that you can create to your likeness or whatever and record a greeting..its kind of cute in that it follows the mouse movements etc Its abit kitsche I suppose, but its like just another way to personalise your page or whatever..nice to play around with..G

Hi, that's quite interesting. Hope, among other things, that you teach the little children to shun racism as well. That's the best years for a lot of sensitive things to be ingrained in their minds. A lot of wonderful things are happening in Africa and the young ones have to start knowing that, instead of the usual war, crime, famine etc, that have always been the pictures and scenes from Africa.Maybe you could organize a 'real' trip to Africa. I could organize an exchange program between your school and a school here. Pls send me your email address so i could send you some lovely pictures from Ghana.Bye
