As part of our Making a Difference program my grade 5 class has decided to become involved in raising money and awareness for the Light Up the World Foundation, an organization dedicated to providing energy efficient lighting to 3rd world countries not connected to the power grid. We are working in conjunction with another class in Ontario, Canada and we have kicked off our efforts by creating digital stories that summarize what the Foundation stands for, and what can be done to assist. The digital stories can be viewed on MPRadio, our classroom podcast/blog. We are finalizing plans for our fundraising efforts and we will provide frequent updates via podcasts, blog posts, and more digital stories. The momentum of our service learning continues to build! Note: This post and others related our service learning initiatives can be found at Working Together to Make a Difference.
