It is so easy to forget in a year's time just how busy the first few weeks of school can be! Whew! A three day weekend sure was helpful just to get caught up on some school stuff. I was chatting with one of my colleagues the other day about how we tend to forget just how far we can take the students (educationally) in a brief 10 month period. Then...it's time to start all over again! Setting up the rules and routines sure takes a lot outta ya! As I write out my lesson plans at the beginning of the year, I must remember to add in "extra" time for those little things....like explaining for the fourteenth time WHERE the assignments need to be turned in, what the heading should be, where the heading should be, what to bring to class...the list goes on and on! But, I know that soon....they'll "get it". And, just like in years past, we will be able to tackle ALL of the activities and content that can possibly be crowded into a school year!
