Hi Nan -- Welcome to Canadians Mashup, but I don't yet see the group banner on your list, so I think there's one more step. Let's see if this works:

Click on Sue Hellman above this message to navigate to my page. Part way down on the left is a Canadian map under My Groups. If you click on that and then look beneath the main banner (right of center) on the group page, you should see + Join this Group. Click and that should do it.

With your interest in Web 2.0 tools, I recommend you take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's power point presentation platform. Both are web based platforms, have a bunch of features and free basic service.
