I'm trying to start a Ning network for my class of 7th grade students. I can't seem to find answers anywhere. What is the Badge? Can it be removed? Is there a way to filter which member activity we…Continue

Still having trouble sending a private message to a member who's not a friend. Our site is not public, does this have anything to do with it? How are you able to send private messages? Thank you again, Yumi

Hi Dee, I was able to remove the Badge successfully. Thank you! I'm still unable to email a member on our network who's not a friend. I followed your instructions, but can't figure out how to enter or select the member as a…

It depends on how you set the privacy for your ning page, your ning is separate from other nings, but if you make your site public other can see it.

Yumi, I use same account to access multiple Ning sites, so I think you are right that one becomes a part of larger ning network. I do not think that's a privacy concern though as I have not seen my information popup in any places I did not…

Blocking Access to Ning.com

As I posted yesterday, we have created a private Ning network for our 7th grade students. We discovered today, that when you click on the Ning icon (upper left corner), it takes you to the general Ning.com site. Does this mean when we join a private Ning network, you are also joining a larger, public Ning network? Is it possible to join a private Ning network without joining the public Ning.com? Some teachers are concerned about privacy issues. We also wouldn't our students to be a on general…See More

Thank you! I will look into emailing members on our network who are not friends with me. I do know about the email settings. Is there a way to receive email notification for only certain member activity? We would like our 7th grade…

Most of our 7th graders are already 13, and we have our site as a private one, although I don't know if that matters or not.

Ours is not public. We are planning on using Ning with our 7th graders as a way to teach about social networking. We would like each 7th grade advisor/teacher to monitor the activities of only their advisees. What's the best way to do this? How…

I'm just curious how you can use Ning with 7th graders since many of them will be under 13 - at least when the year starts.

I use a ning site with my 7th graders MrLicata.ning.com I customized following of activity but it matters how you set up the main page. Private messages can be sent to any member friend or not. Is your site public?

Hi Yumi, My son (grade 7) has a NING network he set up for his class. NING generously removed all the ads for FREE. Under manage and features, you can remove the badge. Admins can send private message to any member of the community. Good for you…

I'm trying to start a Ning network for my class of 7th grade students. I can't seem to find answers anywhere. What is the Badge? Can it be removed? Is there a way to filter which member activity we follow? We tried to use the Advanced Search field to search only certain members in a group, but it didn't seem to work. Also, can one send a private message to someone other than your friend? Thanks in advance for any input.
