About Me
I created UPower concerts, motivational concerts designed to give young people tools to take on life in a powerful way!

Young people face many challenges:
depression, bullying, low self esteem, relationship issues, no motivation.

As a speaker/singer/songwriter/youth columnist, it is my goal to provide young people with powerful life-changing tools.

I want them to know they have the ability to make powerful choices that will create a positive impact in their life no matter what the circumstance. It's not what happens to you, it is how you choose to perceive what happens to you. The choice is theirs!

I have discovered that young people seem to relate best to music. For that reason I have included a life tool in every song I write.

I invite our young people to try on my suggestions , just like they would a new shirt. Walk around with it for awhile...see if they fit. When they don't realize they have other options and choices, it is easy to feel trapped in their life.

Blaming Others for Our Choices

‘You did the best you could do

I won’t put the blame on you.’

Lyrics ‘Never Walk Away

I remember a song publisher telling me how much he enjoyed my song ,’Never Walk Away’, except he suggested I make one change ‘I won’t put the blame on you’ to ‘I will put the blame on you.’ He said that when you blame others the song sells. As you can see I did not take him up on his suggestion.Putting the blame on someone else takes away our ability to take a look at our choices. It… Continue

What if you learned to love yourself? Lyrics ‘Pretty Girl’

There is so much pressure today to look a certain way, to be a certain way. We are constantly at war with ourselves. We want to look like her/him. We want to be like her/him. If only we did, then life would be great.

We want to be confident, to love ourselves, to enjoy our life, to find that dream job or relationship...but how? It is not that we lack the motivation to achieve theses things, it is that often we lack… Continue

Hi Sara,

Yes we have adverse weather conditions here in London. News stated it have not snowed like this in 20 years! Schools were out yesterday and may be out today as well. In the winter it rarely snows (I've seen snow possibly around 4 times over 9 years but never as heavy as yesterday).
Heard it really snows on your side of the world.

Hey Sara, glad you joined us! I thank you for the inspirational songs that are wonderful resources for character education lessons on many social and emotional health related topics/issues including empathy, risk-taking, tolerance, and goal setting.

Your powerful music and words provide encouragement, insight, and reassurance to young people struggling with issues of identity and self-esteem.

John
