Hi Rich ~
I've used Photo Story 3 and have imported the story in to moviemaker to add videos to my stories. I do not think that PS3 supports video files. Hope that helps. We use PS3 for sharing digital scrapbooks (7th grade social studies; Road…
Hi Everyone,I'm a HS Technology teacher and for the past 3+ I have been using Microsoft's Photo Story 3. Several years ago, one of my students somehow imported a video clip into PS but for the life of me I can't remember how she did it (although I seem to recall she might have used Movie Maker). Any suggestions? On another note, for those of you that are using PS or creating digital stories I would like to know what kinds of themes you used successfully. Thanks in advance for any helpSee More
Our Brainyflix video contest just ended, and I wanted to thank you for helping us get the word out. We got 800 submissions from across the country!
That said, MIT was really happy with the results and will let us run another contest, so we're going for it! But this time, we're gonna have kids create Brainypics flashcards - which are images and sentences paired up with a one of our SAT/ACT words. The contest ends May 22nd, and there'll be iTunes and a cash prize like last time. To boot, we'll double the payout if the kids can hit a certain goal. More details at brainyflix.com/main/contest_rules.
Do you mind passing my message along to your HS colleagues again?
It is great to see more people get interested in doing video projects with their students. I have found this to be a great learning experience for my students. I highly recommend trying it. I think a simple "getting started" video is a commercial or a news story. My kids love this. That being said, start them doing what you really want them to do. They'll get the idea. Also, I have found that my students produce better movies each year. I think this is because I always have better example to show them and this ups the ante.
My book explains my philosophy for ed tech, gives some ideas for solving practical problems, filming & editing tips, coop group structure, includes a complete unit plan, and also handouts for many different projects in all subject areas. This book grew out of a combination of the handouts I use with my students and the conference presentations I have given. It is very practical and can be used immediately.
Hi Rich,
I am a strong supporter of integrating video in the classroom to facilitate learning and making lessons interesting for the students. You are invited to visit my website WordAhead
where you can organize activities for the students and encourage them to make videos and upload them to the website and rate each other's work. Its a great interactive way to improve vocabulary. Do take a look!
Rich, I have been doing video with my students for about 10 years. They get a lot out of it and they have a great time. Right now I have a video journalism elective. The kids do school news segments and we put them all together and show the "newscast" at the end of each quarter. I have written a book on the topic. You can find my book and some (free) resources here http://teachwithvideo.com. I'd be happy to help you get started doing video projects with your students.
Rich,
i teach Spanish I, II, III in high school, and English 6, 7 in junior high. I have been looking to do some dst, and other video work with my kids in English and Spanish. I am about to get a iwb, and I am very excited about this. I am also contemplating buying a flip camera for my classes. Any thoughts on this?
