About Me
The Overcoming Obstacles program was launched in 1992 by the Community for Education Foundation to ensure that all young people learn the communication, decision making, and goal setting skills they need to be successful in life.

What is the foundation for the Overcoming Obstacles program?
• Every child deserves the opportunity to effectively communicate his or her
ideas, feelings, hopes and fears.

• Every child needs to learn to make decisions, solve problems and understand that all actions have consequences, both positive and negative.

• Every child should have the opportunity to practice setting small, attainable goals while actively pursuing a larger objective.

What makes up the Overcoming Obstacles program?
• A comprehensive relevant life skills curriculum, functioning as both a stand- alone course and a source of infusion possibilities for your current curricula.

* Professional development workshops and training
* Ongoing support and updates to material

Who benefits from the Overcoming Obstacles program?
• Academically and socially challenged students seeking to improve their
communication, decision making, and goal setting skills.

• Gifted and successful students who need to learn and practice confidence, independent thinking, and leadership skills.

What specific skills does the Overcoming Obstacles program address?
• Communication, Decision Making, and Goal Setting – high priority skills for all students and the building blocks of success.

• Problem Solving, Respect, and Conflict Resolution – skills to achieve success in the classroom and beyond.

• Personal Health, Time Management, and Dealing with Bullies – specific skills all students should practice and address.
