Independent Study/Home schooling collaboration with families

I am looking to connect with other educators who work with parents to facilitate the best home schooling experiences possible. My school maintains a partnership with parents who want the best to BOTH WORLDS. K-8 kids come to school (we call is workshops) two times per week and are "home-schooled" 3 days per week using the lesson plans and materials we provide or collaborate with credentialed teacher to customize the curriculum to meet unique needs. What to chat?

About Me
I love life! I am a 30 year plus public educator, currently the Principal of Coastal Academy. Coastal Academy is a public K-8 charter school in California partnering with parents to provide a quality education for their children.

My personal interests are cooking, traveling, learning, music, following the local sports teams (Chargers and Padres) and dancing.... not necessarily in that order, it depends on the day! I even have learned to like exercise, I have a great palates machine and an Ipod, need I say more?

I am an southern California girl through and through. I was raised here, went to school here, and while I've moved a little within the area, I love it here. Traveling is a true passion but nothing beats coming home to our house in the San Diego area. Although the allure of Hawaii is quite tempting, my husband and I like to travel there often, we make our home in Escondido, north San Diego county.

Hi Lori,

If your interest includes using Technology for Collaboration with home school parents, I recommend you take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's power point presentation platform. Both are web based platforms, have a bunch of features and free basic service. Here’s a public class recording conducted by Nellie Deutsch on Technology Integration.
