I believe it has something to do with wording in the NCLB act and the stimulus package money.
Thanks for the information, Jeanne. This appears to be happening in my district this year, also. I was just wondering if it was a universal switch.
Literacy Coaches replaced Reading Specialists this year in my District. These individuals are responsible for organizing state testing, implementing Learning Focused Strategies, coaching and mentoring teachers. In years past, the role of the Reading…
I advocate that IT needs to be embedded into the curriculum. Maybe that would help with the teaching of the IT.

Forgot to say used during a field trip and check on the unlimited minutes of your students cell phones.
Designed an group project assignment where students groups had to tweet their notes and take pics thru twitpic. This was used by instructor to see group participation and how they were relating to the subject matter. Students later used notes & pics…

Thanks, Ann. I watched the Google presentation earlier, but they have added more points to it. I'll have to watch it again.

Private Microblogging can be set up in a variety of ways using FOSS software. WordPress (Prologue) and Elgg (Wire) come to mind immediately. I'm sure there are are others.

Tim, I did not know about edmodo.com. I checked out the site, and it does appear to be a safer mode of communication for students. It might be an easier site to deal with instead of having to worry about safety. Thanks for the information.
