I believe it has something to do with wording in the NCLB act and the stimulus package money.

I advocate that IT needs to be embedded into the curriculum. Maybe that would help with the teaching of the IT.

Designed an group project assignment where students groups had to tweet their notes and take pics thru twitpic. This was used by instructor to see group participation and how they were relating to the subject matter. Students later used notes & pics…

Private Microblogging can be set up in a variety of ways using FOSS software. WordPress (Prologue) and Elgg (Wire) come to mind immediately. I'm sure there are are others.

Tim, I did not know about edmodo.com. I checked out the site, and it does appear to be a safer mode of communication for students. It might be an easier site to deal with instead of having to worry about safety. Thanks for the information.
