Blogging and teens

So I'm just at the beginning of this particular online area. I would like to figure out how to integrate some blogging into our creative writing workshops....but I'd like to make it less about just entering casual blog entries, and more about getting the students to deliberately create a theme-based blog where they write about some area or interest where they have some expertise or at least curiosity. I know this is perhaps a more formal way of looking at it, but I would like to challenge the… Continue

Hi Keren. I am having my students write short stories. I was wondering if you wanted to have students swap stories. Let me know.

Keren - How is UBD planning going? I used it quite a bit this summer. The more I slow down and look at the materials with patience, the more it starts to seep into my teaching. The principles behind it are so sound, I think and help me to relearn, remember, and reteach myself that I need to have an idea of where I want to lead the students if I am to lead them effectively. I am the type that improvises a lot in class and follows new threads and creates things on the spot (all strengths for the most part) but I am working on balancing/reinforcing these strengths with the direction UBD provides. Let me know how it is going for you. Best, Robert

Welcome to Classroom 2.0. I think that you'll find a very large and supportive group of educators here, so don't be bashful!

My students are up for anything. Because of your limited time with your students and the time difference, maybe we could set up something in a blog format or podcast. What type of correspondance would best suit you? I teach in Pennsauken, NJ. My students are extremely diverse with many different backgrounds. We are located next to Camden so we often get overflow. My students are very into writing raps and performing. This might also be a something that could coincide with your creative writing aspect. Let me know what you think. I am interested in finding an angle to make this work. - Michele

Hello! My name is Michele Lattanzio and I am interested in your idea. Is there any room for collaboration with another class in New Jersey? Perhaps we could work together to make a fantastic project for our students. I teach 10th grade literature and Speech and Drama.
