"Personally I think that most point and shoots are just as good as a flip camera, especially at High School where ease of use is less of an issue. They can be decent cameras and many have HD capabilities now, so are more flexible than a flip, and…"

If you had $250 ...

If you had $250.00 to purchase products or software for your school what would you buy? I am the technology coordinator at a high school, so purchases I make are shared with the entire school (though only a handful of teachers take advantage of them). I am running out of time to spend the last of my budget money, which is approximately $250. Any suggestions? Thanks!KarenSee More

"Although I have had a Ning network for a couple of years I had a difficult time at first. It was hard transitioning from the face to face to the online. The online format took more time and I had difficulty wording the lessons so they would be…"

"We thought about doing this but ning is not very private. Instead we use Novells Groupwise. We can create groups to share asynchronous comments or use email. Staff collaboration is hard to arrange, there never seems to be enough time to get everyone…"

"I like your Ning etwinning site. I wish our policies let us use some of the tools like video and podcasting. Right now I mainly use ning as a hybrid for my face to face students. It works well to motivate them. All I have to do is suggest that they…"

Well, I have been presenting to admin., IT, etc. for a while to encourage them to let me take this risk of starting the Ning. Monday I presented to teachers and invited them in. Parents will be invited in on June 1st.

I created slides and a google doc explaining what they would need to know, what to expect, etc. The next morning, my email inbox was at 96! I thought, what did I get myself into? I quickly reorganized the notifications list and set up a separate folder to feed those into. I created a google doc with step-by-step how to's for getting started and set up open lab times to meet with teachers for help.

So far, it has been awesome. (but it has only been 3 days) :)
Teachers are connecting and engaging and sharing ideas. I love it. Let me know if you have specific questions or anything. I'm happy to continue the conversation!
