I am teaching biology, chemistry, physics, and advanced math. In the past I have also taught narrative writing and elementary level math. Quantitative science courses and math courses at the high school levels are some of the hardest ones to do in Moodle in my opinion because math notation is more a handwritten thing rather than a keyboard type of thing, but once you get the set up, the Moodle tools are such a time saver. I highly recommend using VoiceThread and linking them to the Moodle courses for the computational classes. The whiteboard and voice recording in VT lets you hand write out the math notation, the files are hosted off site saving tons of mb, edits are relatively easy, the students have great commenting tools, and it is free to teachers (up to 2gb with 10gb being just a one time $10 fee for teachers). For the these teachers, I also highly recommend a pen tablet to make the on screen handwriting easy. A mouse can be unwieldy.
Congrats on the Moodle. Let me know if you need any tips or help. I have been teaching and admining our Moodle, I have a training course (free) that I ran live over the summer and is in an asynchronous Moodle format available year-round. What subjects will be taught using it?
