There is a small explanation of what Ramon recommends (random questions+automatic evaluation) at: http://www.jem-thematic.net/en/node/1195 . There is also a more formal paper, but I only find a Spanish version right now. Get in touch with me if you're interested, I'll make a bigger effort to find the English version... :-)
