Bilingual Resources

I am trying to "motivate" more staff in my building to venture into the world of blogs, nings, wikis, personal learning networks, etc. and I've been somewhat successful with providing links to resources for elementary edcuation and literacy education, as those are my areas of expertise. However, I have been unable/unqualified to identify quality links and resources for the bilingual staff in my building. Can anyone point me in a solid direction? (If it matters, Spanish is the other primary…See More

Follow or Stop Following

It's me again...at the bottom of discussion posts, there is a place to indicate Follow or Stop Following. How do I get that in my ning for my staff to use? I really want this to be set up "right" by the time I have to introduce this to staff. As a new user of nings, wikis and blogs, I am trying to cover a lot of ground in a short period of time. Any tips and suggestions are welcome!

"Derek, Thank you for the feedback. I never thought to use a compilation of previous results (from other students) to help determine what I am looking for and what I think I should get with the integration of technology. I appreciate the great…"

Which tool or platform do I use to meet multiple objectives?

I'll try to be to the point...I am a novice with all things Web 2.0 related...I want to create a "place" where the staff in my building can go to communicate and collaborate online--very new concept for our school. In this "place" I want to include/post/share information, links, lesson plans, reflections, samples of student work, social bookmarking, descriptions of Web 2.0 tools allowed in our District, and I want there to be a place where others can comment on some of these and ask questions in…See More

"Thanks for your response, Matt. I am really hoping to reinforce the writing process with the students as they write their descriptions, recipes, and stories for a larger audience. This is why I am trying to figure out a way to get feedback…"

Help making a K-2 project more collaborative

The general idea of the project is that the students will visit the Monster Motel at www.kidsonthenet.com/motel and read the monster descriptions, recipes and stories posted by other students. The goal would then be to create their own and submit them. However, I don't want to be the sole person providing them with feedback as they compose their pieces and create their monsters. I thought about VoiceThread, but I'm not even sure our district will…See More

Hi Deanna,

With your interest in Web 2.0, I recommend you take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's power point presentation platform. Both are web based platforms, have a bunch of features and free basic service.
