On May 29 and 30 we'll host the next Tutor/Mentor Leadership and Networking Confernce in Chicago. There will be several panels and discussions that relate to volunteer recruitment and training. The conference web site is http://www.tutormentorconference.org

I keep posting information about tutoring and mentoring in this forum because I think young people who are learning to use technology can become the leaders and advertisers who build greater recognition for tutor/mentor programs serving disadvantaged kids, and who help such programs get more consistent support from donors and volunteers, which means they will have a greater impact on kids.

If you're teaching in a suburban school around a city with high levels of inner city poverty, your students could be providing leadership that their parents only talk about. If we can teach these habits of leadership, when your students are adults maybe they will do more to help their own kids, and disadvantaged kids than what is happening now.
